Skills & Memory
Chief gets better the more you use it. The system that makes this work is Skills — a structured, persistent memory of preferences, processes, and corrections, scoped to your tenant.
What Chief Remembers
| Memory type | Example |
|---|---|
| User profile | Your role, your tone, what you care about |
| Feedback | ”Don’t use exclamation points in marketing copy.” |
| Project state | ”We’re freezing PR merges after May 5 for the mobile release.” |
| Reference | ”All bugs are tracked in Linear project INGEST.” |
| Learned skills | A multi-step process you taught Chief once |
Chief reads relevant memories on every turn. You don’t have to remind it.
Teaching Chief
Just talk to it.
Chief, remember that all weekly reports go to #leadership,
not #all-hands.Got it. I’ve saved that as a workspace preference.
You can also teach a multi-step process explicitly:
Chief, here's how we do customer onboarding:
1. Create a new HubSpot deal in stage "Onboarding".
2. Send the welcome email template T-001.
3. Schedule a kickoff in their calendar two weekdays out.
4. Post a heads-up in #customer-success with their company name.
Save this as a skill called "onboard-customer".Now any time you say “Chief, run onboard-customer for Acme,” Chief follows the saved sequence.
Browsing & Editing Memory
/chief-knowledge— list everything Chief knows in your tenant./chief-learn— manually save a new memory.- “Chief, forget that we use exclamation points sparingly.” — natural-language deletion.
- Dashboard → Knowledge — full UI with search, edit, delete, export.
Auto-Learning
Chief watches your corrections in real time. When you say “actually, format dates as MM/DD”, Chief saves it as a feedback memory automatically. You’ll see a small confirmation in the thread.
If a memory is wrong, just correct it in conversation. Chief updates the saved version rather than appending a contradicting one.
Privacy & Scope
Memories are tenant-scoped. Two tenants — even at the same company — never share knowledge. Within a tenant, sensitive memories (e.g., personal preferences, salaries discussed in DMs) can be marked private to a single user. “Chief, save this as private to me only.”
Export & Delete
You own your memory. Dashboard → Knowledge → Export gives you a JSON dump of every memory in your tenant. Delete All wipes everything (irreversible).
