Cancellation
Cancel any time. No fees, no fine print.
How to Cancel
Dashboard → Billing → Cancel Subscription.
You’ll be asked to confirm and (optionally) tell us why. Cancellation is effective at the end of your current billing period — Chief stays fully functional through the period you’ve already paid for.
There’s no online sales gauntlet. One click, confirm, done.
What Happens Next

| Day 0 (you click cancel) | Subscription marked for non-renewal. Chief continues working. |
| End of paid period | Tenant moves to a 30-day grace period. Slack continues to function in read-only mode (you can still see threads but Chief won’t act on new requests). Dashboard remains accessible. |
| End of grace period | Tenant is marked inactive. Slack app stops responding. Dashboard shows reactivation prompt. |
| Day +60 (after grace ends) | All data — Slack threads, integrations, learned skills, generated files, deployed apps — is permanently deleted. |
Reactivating
During the grace period or after inactivity, click Reactivate in the dashboard. A new billing cycle starts immediately and everything resumes where it left off.
After the day +60 deletion, reactivation creates a fresh tenant — no historical data is recoverable.
Data Export
Before canceling, export anything you’ll want to keep:
- Dashboard → Knowledge → Export — JSON of every learned memory
- Dashboard → Usage → Export — CSV of every task and tool call
- Dashboard → Integrations — there’s no export here, but disconnect any integrations you don’t want lingering connections to
- Any App Factory apps deployed to your Vercel account remain on your Vercel — Chief doesn’t tear them down, you do
We’ll also email you a one-shot full data export 7 days after cancellation. It’s a JSON archive of every Slack thread, generated file, and tenant setting.
Refunds
Chief is post-paid monthly. There are no proactive refunds for cancellation, but if you cancel within 24 hours of being billed and you have a clear reason (you intended to cancel before the renewal date), email support@hirechief.ai and we’ll process a refund.
Annual Plans
Annual contracts cancel at the end of the contract term. Refunds for annual cancellations are handled case-by-case under the contract terms — contact your account manager.
Deleting Without Canceling
If you want to scrub your tenant now rather than wait through the grace period: Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Tenant. This skips the grace period and starts the 30-day deletion countdown immediately.
