Chief Documentation

Chief Documentation

Chief is an autonomous AI coworker that lives in your Slack workspace. Unlike chatbots that only answer questions, Chief does work — it writes scripts, browses the web, processes documents, manages integrations, runs on a schedule, and ships entire web apps. All from a Slack message.

What is Chief?

Chief is an AI agent purpose-built for the way real teams work. You talk to Chief in Slack — in a DM, in a channel, or in a thread — and Chief gets things done. Chief reasons about your request, picks the right tools, executes the work, and reports back with results, files, links, or a deployed app.

Chief uses a Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model. You provide your Anthropic API key (and optionally OpenAI, Gemini, or local model keys on Enterprise). Chief runs all AI calls through your account, so you control costs at the source.

Where to Start

If you’ve just signed up, the Quick Start walks you from zero to a working install in about 10 minutes.

If you’re evaluating Chief for your team, the Plans and Security sections cover what you’ll be asked about by procurement.
